Research In Motion has recalled a little over 900 of its new-ish 7-inch PlayBook tablets, citing a quirky installation of the operating system “that may result in the devices being unable to properly load software upon initial set-up,” as reported by CrackBerry.com.

If yours is one of the unlucky handful of tablets then you may want to avoid buying a lottery ticket today as “the majority of the affected devices are still in the distribution channel and haven’t reached customers,” says the company.

But if you’re wondering why your $500 tablet hasn’t really done much since you took it out of the box, you can cross reference your serial number right here and contact Research In Motion for a replacement.
