Oh, did I forget to mention that portable air conditioners are kind of expensive? They start at around $250 unless you get an evaporative cooler which work well in drier areas of the country. We’ll take a look at full-bore air conditioners, though.

At $250, this LG unit bests most others by $50. It’s relatively compact, too, although its overall cooling power leaves a bit to be desired. This little guy would work well in a small office or bedroom, though.
