Lenovo 15.6-inch laptop: $300 at Best Buy

Best Buy has an enticing deal on this 15.6-inch Lenovo laptop at $300. “What’s the catch?! Surely there’s a catch,” you say. No catch, unless you count having to actually go to a physical Best Buy location to get this deal a catch. So, yes, there’s a catch. But you’re planning on taking a long and early lunch today anyway, aren’t you? It’s Monday, after all.

The computer features a dual-core AMD processor, four gigabytes of RAM, a 320-gigabyte hard drive, and Windows 7 Home Premium. It’s got a weight of just over five pounds, too, but the built-in fingerprint reader means you won’t have to type in your password so you’ll save a bit of energy there—energy you can reallocate to carrying your laptop around.

iSymphony 24-inch 1080p TV: $138 at Amazon

“Know what this rumpus room needs? A 24-inch TV. But not an expensive one! It is, after all, just a rumpus room.” The lowly rumpus room never gets the latest and greatest technology. As such, this 24-inch 1080p that’s selling for well shy of $150 fits the bill for just about any rumpus room around.

From a technical standpoint, the TV sports a 1080p resolution, one of each major input type, built-in speakers, and a weight of around 12 pounds. I can’t tell you if the lady in the above product photo is available while the TV’s in standby mode but wouldn’t she make a great babysitter while your kids are playing in the rumpus room? “Don’t write on the wall with that crayon. Charlene is watching,” your kids will say. “She’s always watching.”

ASUS 12.1-inch Core i3 notebook: $455 at Buy.com

219475859

As ultraportable notebooks go, this ASUS could be considered “a wheel of a deal” at $455. The thing costs well over $100 more elsewhere. You get an Intel Core i3 processor, up to eight hours of battery life, four gigabytes of RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium, and the whole she-bang weighs just 3.3 pounds and measures an inch thick.

There’s a two-year warranty, too, which is refreshing. Also refreshing: You could be the weirdo on the bus that uses his laptop. People will only be able to assume that you’re very important. Otherwise, why would you be doing work on the bus? You must have a busy day ahead of you, and apparently you work for a company that solves online crossword puzzles.

Garmin Nuvi 1300 GPS system: $70 at CowBoom (today only)

DT_800808_1

Someone broke into my car and stole my GPS system a while back. I haven’t replaced it and I’m not going to replace it until my custom-made sign shows up that reads “Door is unlocked. Please take GPS system. Don’t smash window again. It costs way more than replacing GPS system. Thanks!”

The cop was amused that I knew the model number of my GPS system, too. Apparently most other people who get their GPS systems stolen aren’t “huge dorks” like yours truly. Anyway, this Garmin Nuvi 1300 from Best Buy-owned CowBoom is available for $70, today only. It sells for around $100 elsewhere. I’m telling you: If you’re going to leave it in your car, just leave the window rolled down, too. It’s way less hassle.

Seagate 2-terabyte external hard drive: $80 at Amazon

It’s really never been a better time to be a data hoarder. Storage prices will ostensibly continue to move in a downward direction but, come on, $80 for two terabytes of storage? Load up, friend.

There’s a one-terabyte version of the same drive available for $110 right now—yeah right! Right?! It’s like, why not just buy the two-terabyte version? Exactly. Also, the three-terabyte version is $130, which presents a harder choice. Maybe just buy two of the two-terabyte versions.
