Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz Was Fired Over the Phone

Yahoo has fired its CEO, Carol Bartz. Tim Morse, Yahoo’s chief financial officer, will be stepping in to act as CEO in the meantime. It turns out that Bartz was fired over the phone (because face-to-face interaction is so important these days). In true geeked out fashion, Bartz confirmed her removal in an email to Yahoo employees sent from her iPad.

It read:

To all,

I am very sad to tell you that I’ve just been fired over the phone by Yahoo’s Chairman of the Board. It has been my pleasure to work with all of you and I wish you only the best going forward.

Which begs the most important question of all – where was she with her iPad? In her office? Was she cooking? In the ladies’ room? Such things we’ll probably never know the answer to.
