Apple's iPhone 4S, which wasn't called the iPhone 5, didn't have a larger screen and a tear-shaped case and didn't run Flash

Do you want an iPhone 4s? Wait! I have a follow-up question. Do you also not want to get locked into a two-year contract? If you answered yes to both questions and you have $650 burning a hole in your pocket, you can now saunter on over to Apple’s website and pick up an unlocked, contract-free iPhone 4S.

Aside from the relatively elevated up-front cost, the model in question will only work on AT&T here in the U.S.  but if you’re a frequent traveler, you’ll be able to use it on GSM networks around the world provided they use micro-SIM cards.

Pricing is as follows: $649 for the 16GB iPhone 4S, $749 for the 32GB version, and $849 for the 64GB version. Shipping time for each is listed as two weeks. If you can’t wait that long or you don’t want to spend that much, you can get the 8GB iPhone 4 for $549 or the iPhone 3GS for $375—both unlocked and both available for immediate shipment.
