Google Maps Easter Egg: ‘One Does Not Simply Walk Into Mordor’

Are you as excited about the new The Hobbit trailer as we are? Sure, it looks exactly like all of the other The Lord of the Rings films and Peter Jackson seems to be going kind of heavy (pardon the pun) on the dwarf physical comedy, but still, The Hobbit was the book that got a lot of us into fantasy in the first place.

Apparently, the people at Google are also big fans because they installed a little The Lord of the Rings Easter egg in Google Maps. Enter your starting location as “The Shire” and your destination as “Mordor,” click the icon for walking directions and it will give you Boromir’s infamous warning that would later go on to become a wildly popular Internet meme.

And yes, I’m aware that Bilbo never actually ventures to Mordor in The Hobbit. Here’s the trailer again in case you missed it.
