What a wonderful pile of crap this $20 Retro USB Mouse looks like. Wonderful in the sense that it conjures up memories of a simpler time in the history of computing – pile of crap in the sense that the median nerve in my mousing wrist feels all carpally-tunnely just looking at it.
Though it appears old school, it’s chock-a-block with modern tech – namely a USB cable, a scroll wheel and optical precision. I suppose a wireless version would ruin the illusion too much.
Says ThinkGeek, which sells the mouse:
This Retro Mouse has all the style of the days of big hair, punk, blue eyeshadow, and leather, but the insides of a fancy optical mouse. It’s compatible with PC or Mac; just as long as you have an available USB port, you can swap it in for your regularly scheduled mouse and sing some Journey while you click around the web.
Note that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with singing some Journey while clicking around the web with a modern mouse, either.
