Motorola recently provided 6,200 “Xoom” Android tablets to daily deals site W00t.com and of those 6,200 tablets, about 100 of them “may not have been completely cleared of the original owner’s data prior to resale,” the company said in a statement.

Before being refurbished, the tablets would have originally been returned to Amazon, Best Buy, BJ’s, eBay, OfficeMax, RadioShack, Sam’s Club, Staples or a handful of “other independent retailers between March and October 2011,” said Motorola. The company is offering two years of free credit monitoring to anyone who might be affected.

Anyone who purchased one of the refurbished tablets from W00t.com between October and December 2011 is “encouraged to visit motorola.com/xoomreturn or to call Motorola Mobility Customer Support at 1-800-734-5870″ to check if their tablet is one of the units containing the previous owner’s data.
