Good news, owners of HTC devices. You might be getting an upgrade to Android 4.0, otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich.

HTC just announced 16 phones that are getting the long-awaited update. The bad news is that the announcement is light on details concerning when, exactly, these phones will be updated.

What HTC does know is that owners of the HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation XE are first in line, with updates widely available over the coming weeks. Next up are the HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XL.

After that, who knows? HTC — like Motorola before it — uses vague language when describing when you can expect to get Ice Cream Sandwich:

Please note, once we start pushing out updates it will take time for all carriers in each country to get the update. We are working closely with our carrier partners to nail down update schedules for our other smartphones and will have more to share very soon.

At least HTC owners know whether or not they’ll get an update. Notably absent from the list below: HTC’s Flyer tablet and the HTC Desire Z.
