The only serious downside of Bluetooth iPad keyboards such as Logitech’s own Ultra-Thin Keyboard Cover is the pesky requirement that they be recharged occasionally via their MicroUSB connectors. The $129.99 Solar Keyboard Folio eliminates that chore by building a solar panel into the case. Logitech says that you could use it for two years in complete darkness; if nothing else, that’s an interesting visual. The design does have some downsides, though: The nubs it uses to prop up the iPad are prone to slipping, and removing the tablet isn’t as easy as with the ZAGGfolio. And Logitech chose an odd color for the keycap labels that I found difficult to read in low light.
Ultimately, I decided to use the Ultra-Thin and make a mental note to myself to plug it in every few weeks. But if that sounds like a hassle, the Keyboard Folio is a workable alternative.
