So if you really come to think about it, are these apps/games actually good for our kids?
Heck, I remember how we used to play outside. I am not even sure that nowadays kids have any clue what "outside" actually means. We should really keep an eye on our kids. let them celebrate life the way it was meant to be, and not infront of some app which is unlikely to add any value or skills for them. That being said, I would hand pick each and every app that my kid lays his finger on, and I have seen some good ones at http://www.kidpicks.org/

Big Baby gives children a baby to look after. Ideal doe 3-6 year olds. My 6 year old son still enjoys it as much as my daughter does.
The babies eat, drink, sleep, and need their diapers changed. It's one of a small group of ‘open play’ digital games that let children explore, discover and learn in their own way.
As children interact with the baby, discoverable features are revealed that reward their curiosity. The baby responds happily to actions like having its feet or hair touched, and cries if its bottle is taken away too soon.
A great game for children and parents alike. Listen to animal sounds and let your kids touch each animal.
