Release dates for new Apple products have been tougher to predict lately, with the end of the yearly refresh for new iPads and the ever-shifting launch window of new iPhones.
Fortunately, Rene Ritchie at iMore has some unnamed sources who claim to know what’s up:
iMore has learned that Apple is planning the release of the iPhone 5S for this summer, currently for August. Next generation iPads, presumably the iPad 5 and potentially the iPad mini 2, may also debut as soon as this April.
iMore has a developed a solid track record for Apple rumors, and the timing doesn’t seem too far-fetched for the iPhone, at least.
However, even Ritchie seems a bit skeptical about the chances of new iPads next month. Apple just launched its fourth-generation iPad and the iPad Mini in October, and a Retina display for the latter would probably take more time to implement.
The iPhone 5S is rumored to have a similar design to the iPhone 5, but with an improved camera and possibly a built-in fingerprint sensor. The next full-sized iPad is expected to be much thinner and lighter than its predecessors, with a design that hews closer to the iPad Mini.
