Less than 24 hours after going on sale Friday, customers in several countries had burned through the September inventory of Apple’s new iPhone 5s.

Apple’s U.S. online store as of Sunday morning shows models of the 5s in all colors available to ship again in October. The new gold version of the handset was the first to go in each country participating in the launch, according to Apple Insider.

Apple’s new iPhone 5c, however, is still in stock, with models available as of Sunday within 24 hours. The company is expected to issue a press release on Monday reporting first weekend sales, according to Fortune.

Reading reviews of the iPhone 5S, all written by "techies", the general consensus was that it was interesting, and maybe worth the cost if you had an ancient version of it.

Clearly, Apple enthusiasts mystify the tech world.  The iPad, presumably the device with no purpose; the original iPhone, too expensive to get much traction; the iPod, barely more than a minor tweak of previous mp3 players, ... the list goes on.

What is really clear in all of this is that the so-called experts aren't.  People who make their living doing tech are a lot different from people who make their living doing other things and need or want technology to be simple, accessible and attractive.  Apple understood that from the moment Steve Jobs came back onto the scene and they still understand it.

And "techies" will still be scratching their collective heads.  Because it's the technology for the rest of us, and it'll never make sense to people who take these things apart and put them back together again.  But just as we want cars that turn on when we want them on and that get us where we want to go, we also want devices that do what they're supposed to do and do it simply.

Period.

No. I upgraded. My new device is better and more able. By far.

@RowanAlexander

Why are you here telling Apple fans they are wrong in liking the product. You should be on Galaxy site telling other Galaxy owners how smart you are? Or.... wait, maybe you aren't quite so sure. 9 million of us must be wrong this weekend. Yeah that's it!
