Samsung’s new (and relatively poorly received) smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, has a neat trick up its sleeve: the ability to run full Android apps.

It is an Android device after all, albeit one with a touchscreen tiny enough that actually running full apps is kind of a non-starter. But sometimes tech is more about doinking around with stuff just to see what’s possible than actually using stuff as it’s intended.

Over at Ars Technica, Ron Amadeo outlines how he got the Galaxy Gear to run a handful of games, apps and videos. It won’t run everything, and it doesn’t have its own way to connect to the Internet directly, though, so maybe don’t knock over your elderly landlady while rushing out to buy one just to hack it.
