As of 7am Eastern, Microsoft has started rolling out the Windows 8.1 update through the Windows Store. If it’s not available on your device right away, keep checking. It’s a free update for those of you with Windows 8 computers and tablets.

Aside from several fixes and speed enhancements, Windows 8.1 brings with it Internet Explorer 11, improved search, additional features to Microsoft-built apps such as Photos and Music, more options for Windows’ Snap View feature, enhanced cloud connectivity, and the ability to tweak all your system settings from within the new Windows user interface. Oh, and don’t forget about the Start button (sort of) making its triumphant return. You can read more about Windows 8.1’s new features here or check out the below video for a general overview.

Tap or click the Windows Store app tile from your Start screen to check to see if the update is available for your device.
