Ratings Scam Triggers Apple To Scrub ~1% of App Store

Following a brief investigation triggered by the iPhone photography blog iPhoneography, Apple has banished Chinese developer Molinker and its estimated 1000 iPhone apps. The majority of Molinker’s applications were pitiful copycats of existing popular apps, but that’s not what triggered the amateur sleuthing from an Internet friend …

Twitter App Showdown: Echofon Pro vs Tweetie 2

Twitter is a necessary evil. And so is the iPhone. (But that has nothing to do with this review at all.)

It’s an unholy amalgamation. But so much information is readily available on Twitter that it’s become an undeniable necessity amongst Internet junkies. Like everything else in Apple’s App Store there’s an absurd amount of …

AT&T Outs 1GHz LG eXpo WinMo Device With Pico Projector

Starting December 7, AT&T will begin selling LG’s 1GHz eXpo smartphone, which is a first in the US. It even comes with an optional pico projector accessory that piggybacks the device adding a svelte 1.8 ounces. It’s a Windows Mobile 6.5 device with a 3.2-inch touch-screen, slide out QWERTY keyboard, 5-megapixel camera and support for …

Rumor: iPhone To Make Verizon Debut In June 2010

By now it’s pretty obvious that AT&T’s exclusivity on the iPhone will end in 2010, but it’s relatively unclear if Verizon will actually get the iPhone as rumored. If you’re in the market for a new Windows Mobile 6.5 device- because who isn’t?- then check out the Samsung Omnia II from Verizon. It’s $200 but that gets you a 3.7-inch resistive AMOLED touch-screen, Swype technology, a 5-megapixel camera and 8GB of internal memory. Sadly, it’s only expandable to 16GB via microSD. The Omnia II …

Samsung Behold II Review: Let’s Never Speak Of This Again

Samsung’s mobile devices have come a long way in the last three years. I’ve lambasted them for much of that period over their chintzy resistive touch-screens, but recent handsets including the Behold II and Moment have been upgraded with vibrant AMOLED screens. The recent adoption of the Android OS on certain devices in the lineup …

Nokia N900 Now Available in the US

Nokia’s Linux-based Maemo N900 is available starting today in the US. It’s not a bad offering considering it comes with 32GB of memory, a 3.5-inch touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard. The Carl Zeiss 5-megapixel camera is nothing to scoff at either. Too bad it costs $650.
