Good news for world travelers and the commitment phobic: Apple will sell the iPhone 4S unlocked in November. The bad news is that the unlocked iPhone won’t work on CDMA networks, which means Verizon and Sprint users are out of luck.

According to Susquehanna Financial Group analyst Jeffrey Fidacaro, Apple is on track to begin building 3 million CDMA iPhones starting in December. In a rather needlessly lengthy post, TechCrunch contributor Steve Cheney claims that unnamed sources have revealed to him that Apple has ordered millions of CDMA chipsets from San Diego, CA-based Qualcomm. The fabled iPhone for Verizon will supposedly go into production in December.
