BBC’s ‘Doctor Who’ Becomes First Facebook TV Rental

With Netflix’s subscription cost increases apparently pricing it outside of some people’s budget, the BBC must be hoping that more audiences plan to move their online viewing to Facebook.

10 Alien Types We Wish Were Real

Okay, so NASA hasn’t announced that it’s discovered evidence of extra-terrestrial life, as was rumored/hoped for as soon as today’s press conference was announced earlier this week. And while the discovery of an entirely new lifeform that redefines life as we know it is nothing to be sneezed at – Anything that actually deserves the [...]

Jane Espenson Talks Torchwood: The New World

Maybe it’s just me, but the more I hear about the fourth season of Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood, the more cautiously excited I get about it. Following on from the critically-acclaimed third season/mini-series Torchwood: Children of Earth, the show’s new season is pretty much a reboot for the concept, as the show jumps channels (Co-funded by American cable channel Starz, it won’t be one of a jewel in BBC America’s crown anymore), continents and even titles (The new season will be called Torchwood: The New World).

Two Times The Seasons, Half The Episodes: Doctor Who Regenerates Format

When the BBC’s Doctor Who returns for its next season in 2011, things will be different. Including, apparently, how many episodes are in a season, and how many seasons fans get a year. New showrunner Steven Moffat has announced that, instead of one thirteen-episode season a year, the format is going to switch to two seasons, of seven and six episodes respectively.

Doctor Who 5.13: All This, And The Big Bang 2

It’s a testament to just how good Steven Moffat is that a season finale that actually didn’t answer the big questions about what actually happened, who was behind the destruction of the TARDIS and whose voice that was at the end of last week’s episode, was nonetheless completely satisfying.

Doctor Who 5.12: Welcome To The Plastic Beachhead

There was a lot to love about “The Pandorica Opens,” even if it was mostly set-up for next week’s grand season finale. If nothing else, what a set-up: Bringing back all manner of characters from this season to try and send the Doctor a message about something that he already kind of knew (The destruction of the TARDIS), bringing back even more villains who – gasp! – may be the good guys this time around, and the tease of an explanation about what, exactly, is going on with that whole crack-in-time thing. Oh, and the return of someone who really shouldn’t exist, and a grand historical joke or two. What more could you want?

Doctor Who DVD To Feature All-New Episodes – Kind Of

Not on board the Doctor Who lovefest yet (And after this weekend’s episode – which I’ll write about shortly – you really have no excuse)? Well, the BBC are making it very easy for you to join in: The DVD/BluRay release of the show’s fifth season won’t just feature all thirteen episodes of Matt Smith’s first year as the Doctor, it’ll also feature two brand-new mini-episodes written by showrunner Steven Moffat himself, called “Meanwhile, in the TARDIS.”

Is The New Hobbit A Former Doctor Who?

If new rumors are to be believed, David Tennant has been beaten to the title of “The Doctor Who That Made It Big In Hollywood”: Sylvester McCoy has apparently already been cast in the upcoming two-movie adaptation of The Hobbit.
