What’s the difference between porting your mobile number and using it in two places at once? Sprint and Google Voice, that’s what. Both companies just announced a deal to streamline the whole port-your-number process courtesy Google’s Internet-based telephony service.

One of the many advantages of owning an Android device over others is quick and easy access to Google products like Goggles, Earth and Voice for various reasons. Today, the Voice team released an update for Android with two home screen widgets that give you immediate access to your inbox and settings.
As an update to this morning’s post, Google has officially unwrapped free voice calls to any phone number in the U.S. and Canada right from within Gmail. International calls start at around two cents per minute, too.
TechCrunch has an exclusive look at Gizmo5 aka the Google Voice desktop app. According to TC, Google could be scrapping this project altogether since Larry Page and Sergey Brin “don’t want Google to be in the business of creating software outside of the browser.” Looks neat, no?
