As “industry sources” tell it, the 7.85-inch iPad will head into volume production in the third quarter at the earliest, with a likely price of $249 to $299. Apple has reportedly started delivering samples to its suppliers for verification.

What’s my favorite arcade game of all time? That’s easy. It’s Atari’s Tempest, and I was therefore thrilled when it became available for the iPad and iPhone, along with scads of other vintage games, as part of Atari’s Greatest Hits. But my second and third most beloved arcade machines may well have been two non-Atari gems: Rampage and Tapper. And now they’re both available, along with a bunch of other titles, as part of Midway Arcade for the iPad and iPhone.

New Study Finds iPads in the Classroom Boost Test Scores

A new study shows that students who use iPads in the classroom score better in literacy tests than those who don’t. Educators in Auburn, Maine began instructing 266 kindergarteners using the iPad 2 this fall, and those who used the tablet scored higher on literacy tests and were more enthused about learning.
