Iran claims to have discovered a new malicious computer virus attacking its government computers.
A hacker in Iran appears to be behind an Internet attack that almost left Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, Skype, and Yahoo vulnerable to impersonation. The attack was thwarted before anything catastrophic happened, but had it succeeded, the attacker would have been able to pass off web apps from any of those companies as the real deal.
In an effort to reach out to Iranians across the world, the U.S. launched an official Farsi Twitter feed late Sunday. Twitter is increasingly becoming a way to reach out to people in far off distances and encourage discussion, and the Farsi feed has over 2,000 followers already.
Late last night Twitter was apparently hacked by a group calling themselves the Iranian Cyber Army. It turns out that it was merely a DNS exploit that redirected Twitter.com visitors to a page with the following message:
