If you listen to NPR, chances are you’re not a fan of the pledge drives. Sure, you probably realize the importance of stations raising cash to keep broadcasting, but the constant interruptions can be annoying and repetitive, especially if you listen for extended periods.
NPR may be under attack by right-leaning political outfits and facing calls for federal defunding, but the Internet still loves it. After one million iPad downloads in the last year alone, the organization is launching a new Facebook app to allow fans to socialize and proclaim their love for public broadcasting.
I think we can all agree: As far as the world of fan fiction goes, you spend more time slushing through the typos and wordy-porns to really consider it worth your time. But sometimes, you come across a gem that gives you just a little more patience to press on.
