“The Hobbit” to be Shot in 3D

For a long time, it may have seemed as if Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit was never going to actually happen, but now we not only know the identities of the main cast, but also who makes the cameras that the movies will be shot with. Red Digital Cameras has announced that Jackson will use “at [...]

Hobbit To Leave New Zealand After All?

If this report from the New Zealand press is to be believed, union disputes have forced Warner Bros. to pull production of The Hobbit out of New Zealand, although its new home has not been disclosed. A statement from Peter Jackson and partner Fran Walsh reads in part,

Despite rumors to the contrary, former Doctor Who Sylvester McCoy will not be starring in the title role of Peter Jackson’s upcoming The Hobbit… because he’s apparently in the running for another, less short, more powerful role in the movie instead.

Let’s Face It: The Hobbit Will Never Happen

Even if Peter Jackson decides that he does want to direct the two Hobbit movies after all – And Neil Blomkamp is still in the running after all, apparently – there may be an additional problem in finally starting to shoot the damn thing: The question of who will pay for it.
