So is the real irony of ironies here the fact that Peter Jackson was so successful in making Lord of the Rings that it meant no one else would ever come close to the world of Tolkien?
Will Peter Jackson choose himself as the replacement director for The Hobbit now that Guillermo del Toro has jumped ship? It depends on who you ask.
This is certainly a heavy blow to Middle Earth dwellers. Guillermo del Toro has officially quit as director of the two-part The Hobbit movie due to production delays and MGM’s ongoing financial woes.
Maybe our return trip to Middle Earth isn’t as far away as we all had initially thought.
