Sometime in the first half of 2012, Adobe plans to release Photoshop CS6, the new version of the image-editing software that's synonymous with image editing. It's been providing sneak peeks at the new feature for some time. Now it's releasing something way better than a sneak peek: a free downloadable beta version of the new software. It's part of Adobe Labs and is available here.

When I do graphics stuff on a computer, I spend 99.994% of my time in one tool: Photoshop. When I do it on my iPad 2--which I'm doing more and more--I jump between multiple apps, including PhotoForge2, iResize, TouchDraw and others. Basically, I'm trying to piece together my most-used Photoshop features. Even by using a bunch of programs, though, I can only get partway there. But starting now, I have another option for iPad image editing: Photoshop.

Adobe Shows Off Blurry Picture Fix in Photoshop

You had the perfect shot. Everything was framed just right, your subjects were smiling, and the lighting was beautiful. But then you hit the camera button with a little too much gusto, and the whole photo came out a blurry mess. Fortunately, Adobe has demonstrated a fix for blurry photos in Photoshop. Using advanced algorithms, the deblurring effect analyzes pictures to determine how the camera was moving at the time of the photo and makes corrections accordingly. Adobe showed off the feature at its MAX conference last week. Adobe also showed off this feature at last year’s MAX conference, but now it seems more refined. (MORE: How to Take Better Food Photos With Your iPhone) The video above is, ironically, too blurry to do great justice to the feature, but you can hear people flipping out when they see deblurring in action, at about the 1:16 mark. (Also, the effect is more prominent if you watch at full screen in 720p.) As useful as deblurring might be for professional photographers, I’d be more interested in seeing the feature in Adobe’s upcoming Photoshop Touch apps for Android and iOS. After all, phone cameras are notorious for blurry pictures. The ability to correct motion blur on smartphone photos with an automated effect would be worth paying for. Sadly, Adobe’s not saying when or if deblur will show up in any version of Photoshop, let alone mobile apps. According to SlashGear, an Adobe executive said the feature “may or may not appear in a future version, we won’t commit to timing.” MORE: Inside the Mind of a Master Photo Editor

Adobe rolls out subscription pricing Adobe’s powerful-but-expensive Creative Suite of design products have just gotten a more wallet friendly pricing structure: monthly subscriptions. Starting with the new Creative Suite 5.5 product line, you’ll have the option of buying the full or upgrade versions of various pieces of software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, and Dreamweaver, or you can pay for them month by month now. For comparison, the full version of Photoshop CS5 costs $699 outright, or you can "subscribe" to it for $35 per month if you agree to a one-year term, or $49 per month for a month-to-month plan. These subscription plans seem squarely aimed at people who either don’t need to have access to Adobe products all the time or those looking to get into the design world who don’t have a ton of money to spend on software right away. Industry vets looking to re-up Photoshop each time a new version comes out will likely find the $200 one-time upgrade fee manageable, though. But for someone interested in the full version of Photoshop, $700 is a hefty bill. A $35-per-month subscription may be much more enticing, especially since you’ll have access to newly-upgraded versions as they get rolled. Photoshop tablet features Adobe also announced an initiative to extend Photoshop features into Apple, BlackBerry and Android tablets. Though not fully featured versions of Photoshop, these tablet apps—there will be three available next month—will allow you to manipulate certain Photoshop features on your tablet to be reflected in real time (or synched later) on the desktop version. The "Touch SDK" (software development kit) will pave the way for future apps to integrate with Photoshop as well. Per Adobe: "Using the Touch SDK, Adobe has developed three initial Photoshop CS5 companion apps for Apple iPad: Adobe Color Lava for Photoshop, Adobe Eazel for Photoshop and Adobe Nav for Photoshop. The apps are designed to enable users to create custom color swatches, paint and drive popular Photoshop tools from tablet devices." Here’s a video demo, too: The apps will

It certainly isn’t the definitive iPhone camera app list, but we’re pretty sure it’s close. Here’s our list of favorite iPhone camera apps in no particular order.
