Roku, which pretty much invented the cheap, easy-to-use Internet TV streaming box, is the sort of scrappy startup which you might have assumed would get steamrolled by mammoth competitors early on.
Interesting. See that thing up there? That’s Roku. It’s a nice, inexpensive, internet-connected box that you hook up to your TV. Once it’s set up, you can use it to stream movies and TV shows from the likes of Hulu Plus, Netflix, and Amazon, plus music and photos from Pandora and Flickr, respectively.
Introducing the unexpected major new player in the ongoing television/VoD struggle: WealthTV. Why is this minor cable channel suddenly so important? Because WealthTV has become the first cable channel to become available through Roku, for just $2.99 per month.

The Roku streaming media set-top box appears to be close to offering Hulu Plus support, which would mean unlimited streaming TV shows from ABC, NBC, and FOX for $10 per month.
Roku, makers of the streaming set-top box with the same name, have updated their lineup today with lower prices, better features and a slimmed down design.
One of our favorite on-demand music services, MOG, is expanding to one of our favorite set-top boxes, Roku, today. The MOG Channel will stream music at 320kbps and includes MOG’s wonderfully awesome “MOG Mobius” music discovery engine that allows subscribers to listen to true artist only stations or mix it up at their leisure.
