One of the last few surprises that TGS held for fans was the return of a long-dormant offshoot of the popular Tekken fighting games. The reveal of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was a fairly big surprise, one that wasn’t spoiled by the kinds of leaks that preceded, say, the Ico & Shadow of the Colossus [...]
And so it was written: all motion-control platforms must have a game that demands you flail wildly into the air to knock out an on-screen opponent. Wii Sports‘ Boxing starts this mess in the current console generation and we’ve already seen The Fight (formerly called Motion Fighters) for Playstation Move in its early stages.
Remember how I was all “Capcom better do right by Tekken!” over the weekend? Well, it turns out the exchange of characters between the two most stories fighting game series is a two-way street after all.
It’s the video game equivalent of a Hatfield-McCoy wedding. Capcom’s announced that development’s underway on Street Fighter X Tekken. It’s a new 2D title that will pit Ryu, Chun Li and others against Kazyua Mishima, Nina Williams and other fighters from the King of Iron Fist Tournament. From Capcom:
Still no Serenity 2 news from Hollywood. But they did green light something else far more deserving of their money and our time: Tekken. Yep. Tekken. You know; the arcade game that really only sufficed when there was nothing else in sight. Or all those slow-loading sequels. Tek-Freakin-ken.
