Darren Aronofsky For Wolverine 2? WTF?

I can’t be the only person surprised at the rumor that Requiem For A Dream, The Wrestler and Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky is in the running to direct the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, can I? Sure, I know that Aronofosky was, for awhile, planning a reboot of the Robocop franchise for MGM, and also that he’s a comic fan – His The Fountain was a graphic novel as well as a movie – but nonetheless, the idea that he’d happily slide into not only a superhero franchise he doesn’t control, but do so in a sequel to a movie that was, to be kind, not too sucky, somehow seems just plain wrong. Isn’t he… you know… too good for this kind of thing?
