Rest in Peace, Microsoft Zune Player

A moment of silence, please, for Microsoft’s Zune, which has ceased production at the tragically young age of four. The company announced yesterday that it “will no longer be producing Zune players,” although services and warranties for existing players will be unaffected by the decision.

Once Again, Microsoft Said To Kill Off Zune Hardware

Microsoft’s Zune has had a tough time lately. According to a Bloomberg report, Microsoft will be killing off the Zune, and no longer introducing new versions of the multimedia player, as a result of low demand.

Microsoft To Phase Out Zune?

You may have to pack up your Zune and say goodbye to your Zune-related products soon. Since Microsoft is refusing to say the Z word as of late, some have said they may be getting rid or rebranding the music-based device and related products. Unfortunately, the statement made to All Things D only fueled the rumors:

Windows Phone 7 Ushers In Zune Support For Macs

The head of marketing for Windows Phone in the UK has unofficially confirmed via Twitter that support for Zune on the Mac is coming. The update has since been removed but Microsoft has confirmed that a public beta will be out this year allowing Windows Phone 7 users to sync “select content” with their Macs. [...]

My extended preview of the first [...]

Microsoft Makes the Zune HD 64GB Official, Available 4/12

The most underrated product in Microsoft’s consumer portfolio has to be the Zune. I’m serious. For $15/month you have access to unlimited music. Xbox On WP7: Is Microsoft Finally Ready To Get Serious About Mobile Gaming?

When Microsoft unveiled Windows Phone 7 this morning, they showed that they were finally ready to bring something stronger than NERF guns to the increasingly contentious smartphone street fight. They also indicated a level of commitment to a business that’s been even more neglected: mobile gaming. Games will be one of the six primary hubs [...]

Windows Mobile 7 x Zune Phone Rumors

In a month’s time, a gaggle of journalists and bloggers from around the world will descend on Barcelona for Mobile World Congress. I won’t be attending. The biggest news will likely come from Microsoft’s camp and I have a meeting scheduled with them prior to MWC. Said news will revolve around Project Pink and Windows [...]
