E-book readers are all the rage. Not sure if you knew that or not, but Spring Design’s Alex eReader might be the best of the bunch from a functional standpoint. It features a 6-inch e-ink display and 3.5-inch color touch-screen running Android 1.6. It also comes with built-in Wi-Fi and 2GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD). What’s most intriguing about the device is the interaction between the main e-ink display and the touch-screen. Let’s say you’re cruising the Web on the lower screen and find an article worth reading, the Alex allows you to port the page from the smaller screen to the e-ink display.

Neat, right? Here’s a hands-on video from Doug Aamoth:

Be advised that this post contains graphic medical photos and videos.
