Ah, the Apple Newton. Some might say that the Newton is a precursor to what we’ll see tomorrow and they’re mostly correct. It was first introduced in 1993 and served as a PDA for mobile professionals because sending faxes way back when was the only thing we cared to do. Just watch the following videos.

But the Newton was not the original tablet-like device from Apple. Oh no. It’s recently come to light that Apple had plans for a tablet as early as 1983. Frog Design recently unearthed photos of “Bashful”, a companion to the Apple IIe that they designed for Apple ~27 years ago. Let’s hope Apple has circumvented the need for a keyboard and stylus.
