Even plants that escaped initial damage are impacted, since blocked transport routes make it impossible to import essential components. And if these companies cannot manufacture batteries, companies further along the chain cannot complete the gadgets that depend on them.
By contrast, Panasonic, the country’s biggest maker of standard consumer batteries, has promised to boost production in an effort to help people dealing with ongoing power cuts.
