Making the Comics Scene

ECCC’s focus is squarely on comic books–with relatively minimal programming devoted to movies, TV and games–although there is a gaming area at the back of the show floor. A lot of attendees had clearly planned their trips well in advance (and I heard of a few people who’d flown in for it as a more livable alternative to Comic-Con International), but there were also plenty of people who’d decided that morning or a few days before that they were going to go check it out. Attendance seemed to be up from previous years; the show is expanding to three days next year.
