Rolando was the first iPhone that felt like a full offering. In tasking players to usher cute, roly-poly characters around the world, its platforming mechanics felt polished on the level of a good console game and used the native attributes of the device. The inputs – tilt to move, swipe to jump, tap to focus – made sense intuitively and the music and graphics were full of funky charm.
