Sony’s going the Chumby route (remember Chumby?) with its Dash Personal Internet Viewer. At $200 it’s a tad on the expensive side, but you get a big 7-inch 800×480 touch screen and over 1,000 apps to choose from. Oh and speaking of those apps, they’re actually Chumby apps. UPDATE: While the device uses Chumby apps, it’s also got Dash-specific apps and can pull in the same audio and video content available from Sony’s BRAVIA Internet Video service.

The Dash features video support with up to 1080p resolution (WMV and MPEG-4/H.264), audio input and output, 802.11b/g wireless, capacitive touch screen with support for gestures and multitouch, and an accelerometer.

There’s no user-accessible memory and you have to keep the thing plugged into the wall at all times, but it looks like it’d make for a nice supercharged alarm clock. Shave it down to under an inch thick, add a web browser and rechargeable long-life battery, call it a tablet and, hell, I’ll take one.
