Jack is the new Jacob. I knew it was him or Sawyer. What I can’t figure out is what is Kate’s big part in all of this? Is she merely just the tip of a love triangle, or does she have a bigger purpose?

Mike “There’s No Crying in Baseball” Williams: I’m not losing any sleep over Sun or Jin. Sayid was a bummer. You just don’t see too many torturors with hearts of gold outside of 24.
So this obviously going to come down to Jackob vs. Smocke. The question I find myself asking now is this: has this drama played out before in the past? Are Jacob and the Man in Black not the first players to act the role of good and evil on the island?
The other players involved are the x-factors. Desmond, Ben (is Ben alive?), Kate, Claire, Sawyer?
AT: I’m assuming that Ben and Richard are still together, and will have at least one more key role to play before this is all sorted out. I’m also going to guess that Richard will finally get to die. So let’s add him to the list of people we think will be killed off. I’m excited to finally see Jacob’s back story, paired against the MIB. And, if this really is hell, is Smokey just a keeper? A demon? The devil himself? I’m curious to see how far they’ll take the lore of the show. Is this Biblical? Philosophical?
My guess: They’re off to save Desmond. Locke will hold Claire as bait. Kate will want to go after her. Someone will probably die, but at least we know Jack is finally stepping up.

MW: I think Jack, as the new Jacob (Jackob), will stay on the island to contain Locke, as the new Smokey (Smocke). These two will be immortal like the original Jacob and Smokey. I think Desmond and maybe Faraday will rescue the rest of the Losties into a brand new alternate timeline where everyone is happy and alive. Well except Whidmore, that guy is going to bite it.
I agree with you about Richard. He’s going to be allowed to die.
AT: Yeah, I think Desmond’s going to save the day. But will someone in the group replace Richard? Ben? Sawyer? Oh, it’s getting good.
MW: I think at this point it has to be Sawyer and Kate together. Unless, of course, in a new alternate timeline Sawyer and Juliet somehow get back together.
This idea of having roles on the island that new characters step into reminds me of The Wire. The producers of that series did something similar.
I am excited for the last three nights of LOST despite all my saltiness. Even if there is no way all my questions will be answered.
