After intermittent delays, Techland’s App of the Week is back! Now that Android is poised to take over the world, we’ve decided to pick one Android app and one iPhone (or iPad) app each week.
First up, Living Social for the Android platform. If you’re familiar with daily deals, like Groupon, then it’s not too difficult to understand what Living Social does. But if you haven’t heard of them that’s okay, too. Living Social offers a daily deal for restaurants and other things based on where you live. If the deal is compelling enough for you to opt in – most are 50% off – you can do so through your Android device (they have an iPhone app, too). Log in with a free Living Social account or Facebook. Share the deal with your friends and if three or more use the link you provide to get the deal for themselves, then you’ve just scored yourself a free deal. Not too bad.

Next up is the Netflix app for iPhone. It’s been out for quite a while but Netflix just pushed out an update for the iPhone/ version that supports video out. Now you can hook up your iPhone or iPod touch to an external monitor, like your TV.
