These daily deals sites have officially gone too far! Or perhaps they’re just going to one-up each other until they’re all giving away spaceship rides for pennies on the dollar.
Whatever the case, Gilt Groupe will be selling three 2011 Volkswagen Jettas for $5,995 apiece this week. The company got to that figure by lopping the number one off of the standard $15,995 price tag.
The site will sell one car per day starting on Wednesday, the 15th. The first will be sold only through Gilt’s iPhone, iPad and Android apps while the remaining two will be sold directly through the site on Thursday and Friday.
The cars will go on sale at noon Eastern each day, so get those fingers loosened up. You’ll have to be a member of Gilt.com, too, which is apparently a super secret club that you can ask to join directly or join by getting invited by a current member.
