[Update: Wall Street Journal is now confirming the report so we’re crossing our fingers that the news is true.]
Let the craziness begin. According to All Things D, the subject of the January 11 Verizon New York City press conference will likely be about the long-awaited Verizon iPhone. Insiders tell the blog that Verizon President and COO Lowell McAdam will make the announcement. Whether or not Steve Jobs will be there as well remains a question, but it’s typical of Apple to make a product announcement outside of big conferences like CES.
Boy Genius Report reports that Apple has blacked out employee vacation requests between February 3rd and February 6th, which is a Thursday through Sunday. When the iPhone 4 was launched with AT&T, a similar stipulation was made. Verizon usually launches new products on Thursdays, leading speculation to say the phone will be released on February 3.
