Sprint Is Officially Not Happy with the AT&T Acquisition

Can’t say no one saw this one coming. Yesterday, Sprint made it known they aren’t happy about the pending AT&T and T-Mobile merger. At all.

General predictions forecasted that Sprint would be on the losing end if regulators approve the deal. If it happens, Sprint will have to play the role of lone wolf in its fight against Verizon and AT&T.

Sprint, admirably, had some strong words for the merger:

The transaction…would reverse nearly three decades of actions by the U.S. government and the courts that modernized and opened U.S. communications markets to competition. The wireless industry…could be undone by this transaction.

According to the grieved telecom company, it was also an “…attempt by AT&T to undo the progress of the past 25 years and create a new Ma Bell duopoly.” Seems like they are not intent on laying low when it comes to this issue.

In typical fashion, AT&T fired back. A representative said on behalf of the company, “…We have always found that the most constructive course is to focus on our own strategies for serving our customers and building our business, rather than becoming distracted by challenging the business strategies of others.”
