Tired of the Wii? Of course you are! Which is why you’re as excited as we are that Nintendo will finally debut the motion-console’s follow up at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, running from June 7 to 11 in Los Angeles.

Game Informer has apparently obtained information from “multiple sources” that the new gaming system will be unveiled at E3, possibly even sooner. In addition to HD capabilities, the new console is said to be an entirely new system from the Wii, rather than a simple repackaging. “Nintendo is doing this one right,” an anonymous source told Game Informer. “[It’s] not a gimmick like the Wii.”

IGN is reporting that Nintendo is already showing the hardware to publishers in order to “garner interest for a late 2012 launch.”

The Wii saw a sharp price drop earlier today, and Nintendo’s stock has been hurting, all of which supports the timing of these initial reports. We’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.

Addendum: As one of our readers points out, Nintendo has not openly come out themselves to confirm or deny the initial reports. When reached out to, a Nintendo rep issued a statement saying, “Nintendo does not comment on rumor or speculation as a policy.” Still, the mystery!
