After a long, cold, dark, snowy, jerky winter, we’ve officially hit some nice weather. And not the fake nice weather where it’s nice for half the day and then it rains and then the next day it snows—fool me once, shame on you; fool me pretty much all of April, shame on me for breaking out my short-shorts and donating all my warm clothes without considering that winter might be more than a once-in-a-lifetime event.
My personal shortcomings aside, many of you will be out and about with some regularity over the coming months and in that spirit, TIME asked me to put together a list of 25 smartphone apps to have at the ready. Most of them are available for both the iPhone and Android phones, with several being available on other platforms like BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7 as well.
