Xbox purists making “na-na-na-na-na” faces at PlayStation owners should remember Microsoft’s own network outage back in January 2008. Following a wildly successful holiday season, Microsoft found its servers unable to handle the flood of new gamers jumping onto its Live network. The result was over a week of off-and-on-again outages and an eventual $5 million lawsuit. To make amends, Xbox LIVE offered their customers a free arcade game for their loyalty. You know, because playing stuff like Pac-Man was just what they bought an Xbox for.
