Tech of a Deal! Ad-Supported 3G Kindle Now Costs $139

Amazon seems hell-bent on heating up the e-book reader wars with new pricing for its ad-supported 3G Kindle. Previously $164, it now costs $139 and includes ads by AT&T, which also provides the device’s 3G connection.

So if you don’t mind ads on your e-book reader—don’t worry, the ads only show up as the screen savers when the device isn’t being used—this is a wheel of a deal. With competing Wi-Fi-only e-book readers going for around $140 as well, this one from Amazon comes with the big, big bonus of being able to download books, magazines and newspapers from anywhere you can get an AT&T signal—that includes overseas as well.
