Add Hulu Plus to the Wii and 3DS’ stable of long-expected features: Nintendo says the subscription-based video service will come to both its console and 3D handheld by the end of this year.
That means Wii and 3DS owners willing to fork over $7.99 a month (and endure “limited advertising”) will have access to shows like Modern Family, Glee, Dancing with the Stars, The Biggest Loser, House and Grey’s Anatomy. It also entails access to Hulu’s back-catalogue of “classic TV favorites.”

But you probably saw that coming for months, since Hulu’s on pretty much everything else in the gadget-verse, as is rival Netflix. What you might not have heard: The Nintendo 3DS is roughly one month away from finally adding the ability to capture 3D video!
Look for the latter in an official 3DS System Update “at the end of November,” says Nintendo, though with one substantial caveat: You’ll only be able to grab “up to 10 minutes of 3D video,” total. That’s a bummer, from the perspective of anyone plotting to cobble together the first 3D Blair Witch Project, though it slots just fine inside YouTube’s default 15 minute uploaded video time limit.
And here’s the unexpected twist: Nintendo adds that the update will let users “create their own 3D stop-motion animation videos.” Odd, but somehow fascinating, too—green clay retro-Gumby sticks at the ready, everyone?
