The media (us included) can’t help but coo over new robots that can serve drinks or perform neurosurgery. One robot, however, has been working dutifully in the background since 2002, vacuuming our floors as we sit lazily on the couch cruising our DVRs. It’s called the Roomba and it’s sold around 6 million units over its lifetime. The 780 is the newest model, equipped with a new touchpad, an optical sensor that helps it concentrate on your home’s dirtiest areas and the ability to schedule cleaning times. Sure, it’s a relatively simple robot, but I don’t see PETMAN walking around doing people’s household chores.
