As Capcom and Midway were churning out more sequels to their respective Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat series, Sega made a clean break with Virtua Fighter, one of the first 3D fighting games. It was also a rarity in that the characters didn’t have any supernatural powers, but could perform lots of elaborate combos with just two buttons for punching and kicking. The simplicity would make for a great iOS port, but so far Sega has only released the Genesis version of Virtua Fighter 2, which is graphically inferior.
