And speaking of huge tablets, for about the price of a standard, large-ish Android tablet, ViewSonic will someday sell you a comparatively huge 22-inch Android tablet. The catch? It’s not exactly portable. Instead, the VCD22 is meant to be used as a sort of information hub.
Families can use it as a home PC for the kids or as an Internet appliance for looking things up. Schools can use it in the classroom, running a variety of educational apps. Retailers can employ it at a kiosk in the store to help shoppers pick out the right size dress.
The Smart Display packs a full 1080p (1920×1080) touchscreen, Android 4.0 and features a front-facing camera for video chatting. It’ll be available in the second half of the year, says Laptop, with a $479 suggested retail price.
