The latest installment in this sometimes artsy, often cryptic stealth-action series — misleadingly titled Assassin’s Creed III (it’s actually the fifth game in the main series) — brings the Assassins vs. Templars struggle unexpectedly across the pond to America during the Revolutionary War. But with that abrupt lunge forward in time (the last game was set in Italy during the Renaissance) comes certain period implications, slavery and the displacement of Native Americans being just two. In fact you play as a Native American, somehow influencing events like the Battle of Bunker Hill and the Great Fire of New York in what’s shaping up to be the most intriguing take on this series yet.
