The modern-era Call of Duty game campaigns seem more interested in shocking than satisfying gamers, piling one improbable scenario upon another like someone building a Jenga tower to the moon. If you’re not picking this one up for the heavily revised multiplayer alone, as I imagine many will, Black Ops II‘s campaign picks up where Black Ops left off, rolling through a multi-part, multi-character story that swings between the 1970s, 1980s and 2025. The game adds “strike force” missions that “affect the outcome of gameplay and the overall campaign” and tacks on a standalone campaign featuring zombies to complement the expanded eight-player co-op zombie multiplayer mode.
